I am preparing my application for the DTV visa and need to purchase an airline ticket. However, I might need to postpone the departure date.
I've noticed that flexible tickets often cost nearly double compared to non-flexible ones.
Does anyone have experience or advice on how to buy a ticket that allows date changes without incurring high costs?
Are there airlines that offer fares with free or low-cost modifications?
Or are there strategies to make a ticket more flexible without paying the full price of a flexible ticket?
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or personal experiences on this matter.
Thank you in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on purchasing airline tickets for a DTV visa application while needing flexibility for potential date changes. They express concerns about the high cost of flexible tickets and ask for strategies or recommendations for lower-cost alternatives. Several commenters share their experiences, indicating that providing a flight number instead of an actual ticket can suffice, mention airlines like Air Asia and Emirates for flexible options, and suggest booking well in advance to avoid issues.
The application only asked me for a flight number so I just went on skyscanner, selected a flight and entered that flight number. I did not buy the ticket yet but I will if they ask for proof. I am currently waiting for approval.
You don't realy need to buy ticket, you can give flight number.
Personally I fill "to book" in the flight number, meaning I will book ticket after I get the visa... I get the visa no problem and book ticket same day 😀
Emirates airlines they have full flexible tickets with full refunds, i booked directly with the official airline website and after approval i canceled it and my money back in 5 days !!
