Having a coffee after just checking in, Birmingham UK, KLM/Air France were unbelievably strict regarding weight allowance with some pretty steep charges (mine was within allowances). Went through the paperwork several times and weren't that clued up on them altho they had a checklist to go through. Can only advise to be early, be prepared and be clued up ready to explain to whoever checks you in

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers flying to Thailand recommend arriving early and being well-prepared for check-in, as airlines like KLM and Air France can be strict about luggage weight allowances. It's advisable to have printed documents ready and to be familiar with both the airline's charges and local regulations in Thailand. Additionally, using a luggage scale can prevent excess baggage fees, which can be quite high. Experiences vary, with some airlines like Emirates being seen as more lenient, whereas others can impose steep extra charges.
I wonder what people put in their luggage when going to a country where you can basically wear just t-shirts and shorts all the time. My luggage usually ends up being 12-14kg and I end up not using half of it (the long pants, the pullover, and the running shoes...). You need more than 20kg? I'm curious to see your packing list!
I got to BHX early for this very reason, they didn't open the checking till 35 mins before the flight so it was a run for security straight to the gate
Looking for extras all the time. I came in on Emirates and they were great. Only that was the 8th and they had not seen the QR for the Thailand pass until that day but all good
I've got one, had no issues myself. Always seems to be someone at check in that thinks the rules don't apply to them. Delays everyone else waiting to get through
