Do I need to provide 6 months of bank statements for a Thailand visa application in Hanoi?

Jan 15, 2026
Hi everyone, I have a question. I'm currently in Hanoi. I received my 3-month bank statement two days ago and am ready to apply for a visa. However, I see that it requires 6 months, not 3. Is that a problem? Has anyone applied for a visa with only 3 months in Hanoi? And my statement is from a real savings account 😔

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is concerned about the requirement for 6 months of bank statements for their visa application while currently in Hanoi, noting they only have a 3-month statement. Various commenters provide insights that suggest mixed experiences, some confirming strict adherence to the 6-month rule for application approval, while others share that they had success with less than the required duration of statements. A few suggest alternatives, like applying from other countries where the requirements might be less strict.

i was approved in hanoi, submitted 4 months just because Decembers had no activity, don’t need 6 full months. i only had 500k in my bank for around 10 days, going down more each month. don’t listen to some of the stuff on here, most of it isn’t actually helpful information

Will have upload what they ask or be rejected, is that simple, Canberra asked me for 6 months statements but never said it had to stay above 500k Bhat equivalent for whole 6 months.

You can consider going to Philippines, Laos, or Indonesia and apply from there. I believe they’re easier and should only be 3 months.

If you have 6, then upload 6. But I got approved this week with only 3 and they didn’t ask any additional document. Just my experience 🤷🏻‍♀️

There have been 2-3 Rejections reported lately. Unlike of Hanoi.

Don't take a chance now that it's been stated as 6 months.

Can you share the official page where it says 6 months?

In Hanoi, in the last 2 weeks, there have been cases approved with 500,000 THB available for 10 days.

In the last 2-3 days, have been rejections with reasons not known.

I don't really know what to suggest but if I were you, I would:

1. Wait it out till some positive approvals started coming out of Hanoi

2. Check the online form for DTV in Hanoi, usually under the tab where bank statements have to be uploaded it's mentioned as what duration is required. That's the real deal. If it says 3 it's that and if it 6 then it's 6 months. Just don't submit the form and delete it later after checking.

Also, it's better to have opening balance > 500,000 THB to avoid questions regarding large transfers.

All the documents are complete, and I can explain the source of all my income from my work, but I just don't have a 6-month bank statement. I opened this account 3 months ago for the visa application and use it as a savings account. That's why I'm worried.

If they say they want 6, why would you only give 3?

DTV_BegPecker Previously, I checked and found that a 3-month bank statement was acceptable, but today the agency informed me that it now requires a 6-month statement

Anonymous participant - you can do a search on here and see that in many instances when someone only submitted 3 months for Hanoi, that they come back and ask for six months
