TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent experiences at Don Mueang Airport indicate that obtaining a re-entry permit is straightforward. The counter is open 24/7, and it is important to get the re-entry stamp after stamping out at passport control. Travelers reported minimal wait times, around 20 minutes on average, and a necessary fee of 1200 THB. It's advised to always show a re-entry stamp first if one is already available, and the staff are generally helpful in directing to the right place.

If you have a reentry stamp always show it first. I have a multiple and always do that and never had a problem. Bkk or DMK if not easy to buy before you go but little bit more money to do on return, goot staff will point you where to go πŸ™

We left Thailand in December, a week or so after we entered, your stamped out at passport control you go to the immigration office and when it’s your turn the officer fills the form in, you give the 1200tbh fee and they stamp your passport, we had no problems.

There's a very clearly marked office window just behind the passport checker with 're-entry' and 'overstay' signs on it. Took me about 20 mins to get my re-entry stamp, with four people in front of me.
