METV

Hi everyone!

I’ll be landing in Chiang Mai on August 28th, and I’m planning to apply for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) this Friday, July 25th, through the Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles.

I’ve done a ton of research and feel pretty confident about the process, but since I’m handling this entirely on my own, I’d really appreciate any first-hand experiences, especially from those who’ve applied for the METV specifically through the LA consulate.

- How long did your processing take?

- Was your proof of income or financials accepted without issues?

- Any tips on documents or mailing that helped speed things up?

Thanks in advance for any insight!✨

As your planned arrival is August 28, I would suggest holding off submitting the application. I've done a number of METV via Los Angeles and their turnaround is typically 4-5 business days. The visa is in effect from the date of issuance so the closer to your date of departure the better. You can start the application, just don't submit until about 7-8 days prior to your flight and after you no longer receive messages regarding documentation.

thank you! I was nervous about getting it too close to departure, so this is helpful!

Be sure to apply for a criminal background. Check through the FBI fingerprint included. With a check for $18. That was my biggest holdup. Just Google FBI rap sheet.

Key thing is to make sure you give them a flight into Thailand, a flight out of Thailand within 60 days of your arrival, then another flight into Thailand. This is your justification for needing multiple entries. Without this it's possible they issue a single entry visa and keep the difference in price.
