Hi all, we are relocating to Bangkok next summer and need some advice/answers about visas.

I'll be going to grad school in Bangkok and want to bring my spouse and our 2 babies with me. How difficult, long, expensive is the process to get visas for them? And do we apply for them beforehand or after we arrive?

I don't know if it matters but we are French, American, and kiddos have dual citizenship FR/US

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster seeks guidance on obtaining visas for their spouse and two children while relocating to Bangkok for graduate school. They inquire about the difficulty, duration, and cost of the visa process, as well as whether to apply before arrival in Thailand. Responses indicate that the school must support the application process by providing necessary documentation for dependent visas. The estimated cost is around 2000₿ per visa plus processing fees, with the advice to apply for visas beforehand to avoid complications.

only do this if you're able to apply through a different embassy than Paris. We've had nothing but terrible reports from the Paris embassy about visas. 5-6 weeks or more. Never respond. If there's an issue and they want more information it starts the clock over again.

we're in the US so we'll go through whichever is the closest embassy (probably in D.C. I suspect)

I just looked it up too, D.C. will be where we go. Thanks a lot

Si vous même avez un visa ED vous pouvez obtenir un visa dépendant O, pas plus.

You need to contact your school. Your school must be willing to support you bringing dependants and must provide paperwork for you to be able to apply for visas for them. If they approve then it shouldn't be that difficult. The price will be 2000₿ per visa and 1900₿ per extension paid to immigration
