2 questions about 90 day Non-O visa (Thai marriage) application. American.

Went down to Changwattana and got the handout for 90 day Non-O based on marriage.

While talking to immigration officer they said I don’t need to take my USA marriage certificate to get it notarized. Said I only need to get it translated. BUT the paperwork says to notarize it, translate it and get a Sor Ror 22 from local Amphoe.

Should I believe the officer or the paperwork she handed me?

Question 2.

My appointment is 8:30-11am

Paperwork handout says need bank book AND the Bank Guarantee letter signed by Bank need both to be dated same day as appointment? And a officer said only need to updated book and didn’t mention the letter. Can it be done the day before or does it have to be the same day? If so then I would have to go to bank as soon as they open then proceed directly to Inmigration office? And does it need to be the Guarantee letter AND the updated Bank Book or just the Bank Book as told by immigration officer? I’m Confused.

Pls advise. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the requirements for applying for a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage in Thailand. They received conflicting information regarding the necessity of notarizing their marriage certificate and the requirements for bank documentation at their immigration appointment. They ask whether to trust the immigration officer's verbal instruction or the written paperwork, as well as whether the bank book and guarantee letter must be dated the same day as the appointment.

Also if it says the same day bank letter and updated bank book on the paper DO it. Don't take an officers word for it IF they're not the one you're going to be sitting in front of.

NEVER make an appt for 8:30 using the online system because there are a hundred people trying to get in that door when they open.

AND

as you said the banks out there don't open until 8:30 too. Always go for 9:30-10:30

How can your appt be for 8:30-11:00? <- if those are the choices take the 11 one NOT the 8:30

This is a screen shot for the available appts (I just picked a day that had a lot of openings to show you how they're spread out.

let me correct my statement. I meant that was my appointment to get the Marriage Cert notarized nearby at the MFA and NOT the appt for the visa. Then I was gonna go over and apply for my Non-O w out a appt.

Sorry about that
@Dave ********
now I understand

I would make an appt for the Non-O visa application as you will not have to queue up,

you will not have to wait a long time

and

if your paperwork is all correct you and your wife should be in and out of there pretty fast..

Don't know if any appts are open on the date you go to the MFA but appointments for things at Chaengwattana are definitely the way to go

, the Bangkok Immigration Office accepts Bank letters up to 7 days old including an issued date. But you need to update your passbook clearly on the day you apply for your visa/extension.

get the marriage registered HERE in thailand by the translation, the MFA certification stamp and then get the Kor Ror 22 because even if some how they issue you the 90 day Non-O you won't get a yearly extension inside the country from a foreign marriage certificate without it being registered here..

the real question IS did you talk to an officer in section C-1 <- the actual section that ISSUES visas at Chaengwattana?

unfortunately I didn’t look to see what section it was. Just was told to go inside and ask for the information. A bunch of people was standing in line and then they all walked in at the same time but they kept moving past the information desk. That’s where we stopped and there was 2-3 officers there answering questions.

But thanks for answering. I’ll just go ahead and get it notarized and then get the Kor Ror 22.
