My family and I just recently got approved for 60 day tourist visas. To get an extension, do we do border jumps or do we go through an agent? And since we have actual visas and didn't come through on a visa exempt, how many times can we do border jumps before we have to stay out for an extended amount of time before coming back in?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, you should visit your local immigration office rather than attempting border jumps or hiring an agent. A standard extension of 30 days can be obtained directly at the office for a fee of 1900 THB. After this extension, if you leave Thailand, you can re-enter and receive another 30-day visa exempt entry, which can also be extended for another 30 days. However, remember that you are allowed only two visa exempt entries by land border each calendar year, while air entries may not have an official limit but could be subject to scrutiny by immigration officers based on your travel history.

1900 baht at the immigration office will get you the extension. If crossing by land you can do two border bounces. Doing border bounce by air is unlimited.
I have in the past gotten METV visa and do a border bounce to get 60 days for each border bounce. For me I found it easier to get stamped in for 60 days than going to immigration to get a 30 day extension then go do border bounce 30 days later.
Despite what some may say.. You can apply for and get a METV eVisa while not in your home country.
Nope. I provided flights into and out of Thailand. Once I included a letter explaining that I was travelling the region so I wouldn't be going directly into Thailand. All the other times I didn't bother with the note.

Thailand should extend visa if a turist can provide sufficient funds or regular income, by doing border runs I have in the past costing me $1000 each time I could have spent that money in Thailand. Thai government should look at every aspects to keep turist money in Thailand.

You have just done things the wrong way, using short term visas to stay long time.
Um... okay... I guess I've never heard before that one do a visa run to Australia... đ Normally the people go to Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam.
well you do need to visit family every now and then at the same time its a long distance visa run

Jasmine. Bring a few extra passport size photos with you, because at immigration (DMV from hell) they will use a glue stick to put your photo on one of the forms. Saves time. Know your address in Thailand and that itâs registered. (Remind the landlord) a passport of course. Get to immigration before it opens because sometimes itâs crowded. The forms they want are in the back of the line. Bring a pen. Itâs a two step process, they check your info and give you a number for step two where you wait to go in and pay 1900 Baht. Wait again and youâll pick up your passport and leave. If you arrive late except them to completely shut down for lunch. If you see an official looking office on the same area it might be a sub contractor that will charge you 2400 baht or some other price higher than 1900 baht and they canât give you your passport until the next day so youâll have to visit again. You might want to avoid these places.
You may Need to go local imigration for extand your visa for one more month 1900 bhat for each person then you must leave the kingdom before expiration of your visa and do visa run to combodya or Laos for only one day and come back to Thailand then you will get again 30 days stamp which means they allowed you to do visa run only 2 times in a year to get a visa that's it
A "visa run" is when you go to another country to get a new visa there from an embassy/consulate... what you mean is a "border bounce". The "30 day stamp" is not a visa... it's a "visa exempt". Visa exempts and Tourist visa can be extended once for 30 days at your local immigration. After that you have to leave the country or you can apply for a Non-O-Visa. About the border bounces... by land or sea there is a limit... twice a year, by air it's not officially limited. Anyhow... the IO can refuse entry if you have a "suspicious" history of stamps in your passport.

To extend for another 30 days you simply go to the local immigration office in Thailand with copies of various things, complete a form and pay the fee.
Make sure the accommodation where you are staying register you with immigration when you arrive.
If you leave the country after our extension ends then you could enter immediately and get another 30 days Visa Exempt, which again can be extended for another 30 days.

You get a 30day extension from Immigration for 1900B. If you then leave and re-enter you get 30 days Visa Exempt which again can get a 30 day extension. You are allowed two Visa Exempt entries by land border in a calendar year.

You don't do border jumps or go to an agent. You go to your local immigration office.
