Tod Daniels, Just a quick question, slightly off topic. Now that I have my AO(Retirement) VISA and extension. I went in to renew my drivers license, and needed the Residency document from Immigration.

I was charged 500 baht (Each) for the two licenses (one Motorcycle, and one Automobile.

No receipt was given. In your experience is this the "Normal" fee?

You can delete this if you want, no worries.

different immigration offices have a different way of dealing with the 'certificate of residence' letters. In Bangkok you pay 200baht get a receipt and they mail the letter to you in a couple weeks. In Chiang Mai the letters are free IF you wait 4 weeks to get it, OR you use an 'agent' who gets it for you in a day.

It is what it is, sorry..

As an aside, you really only needed ONE of the residence certificates because at the Department of Land Transport they WILL accept a copy of it IF you're getting both a car and a motocy license at the same time. OR at least that's what they do in Bangkok. ;)
