Is a border run to Laos the easiest option after my education visa expires in March, given the recent changes for applying for a tourist visa?

My 1 year ed visa runs out in March. Would a boarder run be sufficient? I have heard someone can't apply to tourist visa after they had 6 months ed visa because their embassy said they can't apply to tourist visa if they were previously here more than 90 days, seems like a new thing. I have never done boarder run. What is the least hassle free and easiest from Chiang Mai?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether a border run will suffice after their education visa (ED visa) expires in March, expressing concern about new restrictions on applying for a tourist visa following an extended stay. Comments suggest that a border run to Laos is considered an easy and hassle-free option, with indications that Laos is typically lenient about previous visa history.

Do a border run to Laos. They're usually the easiest place to do it and don't care what your past history is.

Try this one. And if you're getting another ED visa, ask your teacher to focus on the spelling of "border" ๐Ÿ˜†

I don't know that. Just know it's the best option and probably the closest option since you're in Chiang Mai
