Hello! I'm on Koh Phangan and gonna make a Visa run to Penang in January. I'm going with minivan and bus both there and back to Thailand. (So no flights)

Does anybody know how many days I get when I go back from Penang over the boarder to Thailand with bus?

Thank you! 🌴

TLDR : Answer Summary
The duration of stay you receive when returning to Thailand from Penang by bus depends on your visa type. If you enter on a visa exemption, you get 30 days, while a tourist visa allows a stay of 60 days. Additionally, if you qualify for a visa on arrival, you get 15 days. It's also important to note that you may need to show you have 20,000 baht in cash when entering Thailand.

You say Visa-run which as in its name means you will be applying for a visa at the consulate in Penang.

Or you mean border bounce?

How long have you been in Thailand and under what visa if any?

You really need to clarify your question or contact the company you booked with

Now this get confused:

You have a tourist visa? What kind of tourist visa is this and what is the Valid Until date Mentioned on this Visa?

You go to Penang, is this to buy a NEW Visa?

Or do you just like to go to the border and enter Thailand again

without a new visa

or using your current stil valid visa for a new period of stay?

What is the country of origin of your passport?

Nice to know where you managed to rent room and how you like to travel, bus or minivan, I guess you also may use a ferry but that all has nothing to do with a Visa.

Citizens of 21 countries who like to enter Thailand without a visa bought at a Thai Consulate before they made their way into Thailand can buy a Visa on Arrival at airports and some land border check points. As you left it totally open what your country of passport is and what kind of entry you will be using I just named the most used ones

You can get a single entry visa that is good for a 60 entry at the Thai consulate OR a visa exampt which is good for 30 days. You can get two visa exampts by land in a calendar year. You can get unlimited tourist visas, where unlimited is defined by the issuing officer.

Multi-Entry ? Issued when ? Nationality ?

many people did get checked, some people could just pass. I guess it does not matter if others got checked, be prepared.

if you need a visa on arrival 15 days.

if you need a Visa Exempt Entry 30 days

if you bought a Tourist visa 60 days

If you bought a Non Immigrant Visa 90 days

If you residency in Malaysia and bought the Non Immigrant O-A visa, 366 days.
