Sorry if this has been asked eleventy billion times before, I did a search but mustn't have used the right terms. If I go by land from Thailand to Vientiane and back, how long do I get? 15 days or 30? UK passport, currently in Thailand on tourist visa exemption.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As a UK passport holder currently in Thailand on a tourist visa exemption, if you travel by land to Vientiane and return, you will receive 30 days upon re-entry to Thailand. However, you can apply for a 60-day tourist visa at the consulate for an extended stay.
ah okay, thanks for explaining. I never had any intention to do that, I'm going to Vientiane but all I wanted to know was how many days I'd get. Yvonne's comment confused me. Questions answered, thanks.
Depends on the Visa you use, with some visa's you can apply every year for a new Extension of Stay. With a Tourist Visa you can apply once for a 30 day Extension of Stay. If you come back for another extension of stay you will be denied the extension and get the stamp Not Approved and 7 days to leave the country.
You can not get 7 days next to an airport somewhere in Thailand. If your application of Extension of Stay at the Immigration Office gets denied, you will get a stamp: Application not approved and 7 days to leave the country.
