Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some help with this question please:

For Vietnamese passport holders entering Thailand under visa exemption, is the stay currently 30 days or 60 days?

I’ve tried calling Immigration but couldn’t get through, and different agents have given me different answers.

I understand that Vietnamese passport holders were previously eligible for a 60-day visa exemption, but there was a proposal to reduce this to 30 days. I’m not sure whether this has officially taken effect yet.

If anyone with a Vietnamese passport has entered Thailand in August 2026, could you please share how many days you were given?

Any practical and experienced advice highly appreciated. Thank you.
Answer summary
Vietnamese passport holders entering Thailand currently still receive a 60-day visa exemption. Although there has been discussion about potentially reducing this to 30 days, no official changes have been implemented as of August 2026. Several users confirmed that they received 60 days upon entry, while the ongoing confusion stems from conflicting information from different authorities.

Well obviously it is confusing, just goggled it and it states: without a visa under bilateral agreement up to 30 days passport must have at least 6 months of validly. Then when you go to Thailand migration site it says nothing, what a bloody shambles

Now Thai Embassy Site says 60 days for visa exemption for Vietnam passport holder's. I would just front and see.

Thai government should NOT at all be abruptly announcing the "official" change of visa exemption WITHOUT clearly letting the world know the exact date of implementation. This is pure madness and incompetency from bunch of senile bureucrats, trying their best to show off their foolish incompetent work.

Changes of visas is fine, but without the EXACT date, this really just spell uncertainty of many of travellers who plan to enter and stay in Thailand a little bit longer than a month.

People are just damn lazy mate. You see the same question time and time again and the expectation of the writer is an immediate answer, where if they had bothered to scroll down this group page the answer was already there to pick up. Not only that, a more accurate answer could be had immediately by checking Thai embassy website.

there is no search function to figure out what was on the mind of the ones created this chaos, "officially" announcing the end of visa exemption WITHOUT clearly telling when it shall take effect.

Johan_Budiotso the questions were never "what is going on in the mind of the Thai government".

The questions raised like "was it published already" or "is the cut to 30 days official now" can be easily answered by the search function.

And nobody announced that the visa exemption will end, so how should someone tell when something that was never announced will come into effect...stop spreading wrong information.

WonderfulKale117 I just made an announcement. It looks like the changes will be published next week and take effect the 2nd half of September. There is no guarantee that is accurate, but it looks incredibly likely.
