Is the 45-day visa exemption for Swiss passport holders extendable for an additional 30 days in Thailand?

Does anyone know if the visa waiver (45 days) is extendable with an extra 30 days?

I arrived a few days ago and got 45 days visa waiver with a Swiss passport. My initial plan was to apply for the Malaysian digital nomad visa, but I realized I will need a bit more time to prepare all the documents. Therefore, I am thinking about staying longer in Thailand.

I'm currently in Krabi and can't go directly to the immigration in BKK to get more information. Anyone has an idea ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, travelers on a Swiss passport who enter Thailand under the visa exemption can extend their stay for an additional 30 days at any local immigration office, including those in Krabi.

First, block the laugh reactors in this group.

Second, yes you can go to a local immigration office and get a 30 day extension if you have a visa exemption stamp.

yes, I don’t understand what is funny, but well 🤷🏻‍♂️. Many thanks for your confirmation Steve, I will stop by the immigration office this week!

On a Swiss passport you entered visa exempt not on a visa waiver based on a bilateral agreement. Pedantic but specifically two different entry schemes.

With a visa exempt entry you can indeed get one 30 day extension at a local immigration office. You can do it in Krabi or any of the 70+ offices around the country.

Hey Stuart, I did as you said and it worked, visa until 2th January, thanks for your advice!

Do you have any idea about this : I plan to go to Vietnam for 1 month and return to Thailand on 1st February. As the visa exemption is 45 days + extension 30days, I don't see the point of asking a tourist visa. Do you think it's doable to come back with the same scheme or there is a limit to it?

You certainly can come back with another exempt entry. There’s no technical limit for entries via air (two per calendar year via land borders). However at some point an immigration officer may ask you why you’re trying to stay in Thailand for so long without a correct visa. No one can say how many times that may be, but generally they wouldn’t blink about a second entry as they’re used to people visiting other countries around SE Asia as part of their holiday.
