Bear in mind boat is considered a land entry so you need not to have used up your two per year.

thanks! Yes, I’ve done “one”. I went out in December (exemption until January 2019) but for some reason the officer market it as (1) for 2019. So this will be my second. Only going to Koh Lipe if my SA passport gets denied at Mae Sai and Chiang Khong.
