TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost for extending a visa in Thailand after six months is typically 1,900 THB. It's commonly advised to prepare proof of 500 THB in bank statements along with the usual paperwork required for the extension, including form TM30. Alternatively, some travelers suggest going on a short trip to neighboring countries like Laos or Cambodia to avoid the hassle of the extension process.

1900tb extension fee plus proof of 500tb as per my visit to immigration plus TM30. Or bounce to laos was the other suggestion.

Bro just go on a small holiday. Way easier.

Just go with a company bounce out and back same day

Better you do a border run, the cost is 1900 and have to proof again all paper work and bank statement.

@Peter ******
do I understand it rightly- should I go to make a border run and come back until 6 months will be expired?
Peter *******
@Dmitry *******
yes, do not overstay just do border run and you have 180 days again

No one can answer this.. Immigration HQ have been 100% silent on availability and requirements for extensions.

Various regional offices have made a range of comments, which are best categorised as guesses and a cultural inability to admit 'I dont know' at this point.

Sefton Hanley this isn't true, recently an interview was posted and he covers this.

Immigration WILL want to check documents, and it's common sense they will want to check you can still support yourself

Anonymous participant 660 interview was posted with who ??

Comments from the MFA about immigration practices is like asking your car mechanic if you need a root canal.

It is so obvious Immigration were bowled a Googlie with the DTV by MFA and the previous PM. No time to prepare or object.

there is the MoFA interview that says you need to show everything again though. However MoFA is not immigration

@John ******
Did the MFA guy not also cover himself by saying Immigration still preparing requirements. He was very "Diplomatic" in that interview and very careful in what he said.

@Greg *******
- I would have to go back and review. However, he did say you would need to submit updated documents, for example, proving that you are still taking courses, etc.

I listened very carefully. I was going to run it through NotebookLM as I am OCD that. My best pal of 40 years is an Ambassador who I chat with most days. I recognise the language when dodging the question 5555
John *******
@Greg *******
I didn’t think he dodged it at all. He was very direct in saying you need to present updated / new paperwork.

@John ******
Listen carefully to his language. There were certain questions he did not answer fully- in my English it is dodging 🙂 They go on a lot of media courses to be trained in this! Anyway - I need to get a life. I ran the interview through NotebookLM - he did say Immigration still defining rules. Also see bullet point 4
John *******
@Greg *******
your AI even says that they would need to show additional courses under “purpose of stay”.

It was also interesting that China is the number 1 nationality DYV's issued to in first few months. I wager they continue with that b- will be interesting to see 2025 numbers a year from today..

@John ******
I know - heard him stay it. That is why I think people are being over-optimistic that they will NEVER be asked for any proof upon a re-entry. People will learn that it is often a fools errand to make definitive statements in Thailand
John *******
@Greg *******
agree, nothing is set in stone, but was just highlighting that we have heard more than we had for a long time (but MoFA not Immigration). People should be aware that there is a good chance additional documents would be needed, but anything is possible.
Greg ********
@John ******
Exactly - totally agree. I have said all along the "Safest" route is the "Digital Nomad/Working Remotely". Many disagree and are telling people who want to apply this way go for "Soft Power" as it is easier.
John *******
@Greg *******
“They would be required some additional documents. Very similar to the original documents you used to apply for the visa. Financial statements, purpose for, of the stay, whether you are going to take another course, another activity. Going to be a freelancer, need to show proof of that.”

@John ******
that is insane
Greg ********
@Omar *********
It is not "Insane: it is just following the same rules Immigration applied for every other Visa Type. Retirement and Spous "O" you need to show documentation to extend. "B" Visa for work and WP you need to show the documentation again.
John *******
@Omar *********
- He said you would need to prove that you are still taking courses, etc. since the first approval would not usually show that far out. It is the most direct answer we have from a government entity, but still need to take it with grain of salt

add that to the 'guesses' category !!
