I am 63 years old, live in the UK and I'm currently in the process of selling my property. My Thai partner lives in Udon Thani Province and I have visited her three times a year (bar Covid years) for the past 17 years. We have never married. My plan is to move to Thailand and live with my partner from this September onwards.
I would like to ask if I am able to apply (in the UK) for a 90 day non-immigrant O Visa on the basis of visiting my girlfriend or should I apply on the basis of visiting a friend. Apologies if tthe question appears somewhat strange but I'd like to get my application right first time.
Assuming I can get the visa, I will then open a bank account, season the required 800,00 THB and apply for the one year extension.
I hope all the above makes sense.
Thanks in advance for any advice given.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about applying for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O Visa in the UK to visit their Thai girlfriend, with plans to live in Thailand. They want to ensure their application is correctly categorized, either under visiting a girlfriend or friend. The responses clarify that they cannot obtain a Non-O Visa based solely on having a Thai girlfriend, but could apply as a retiree if they meet the relevant criteria. Alternatives include entering Thailand under the visa exemption rule and extending their stay while securing the requirements for a one-year extension.
