My 60 day tourist visa expires on Jan 30th. I want to stay til the end of February. If I apply for the 30 day extension today at the immigration office in Samui, do the 30 days start from today or from Jan 30th?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When a 30-day extension is applied for, it is added to the expiration date of the existing visa, not the date of application. Therefore, if you apply for the extension before your current 60-day tourist visa expires on January 30th, your 30-day extension will start from that expiration date, giving you an additional 30 days to stay.

Doesn't make any difference when you apply for a 30 day extension it's added to the expiration date you have now

Going early doesn't cut any time off the extension ๐Ÿ™‚

Unless I'm mistaken though Samui is one of those offices that want you to show up when you have a week or so left on your current 60 day stamp

Hopefully someone from down there will weigh in
