I’m looking at the 60 day tourist visa to Thailand. The Thai embassy in Vietnam is asking to see 1 month of hotel reservations. I don’t want to reserve so many nights before I get a chance to see and live in the hotel. I may also want to change hotels. What is the best way / site to book a hotel that allows easy cancellations? Mainly I need to show a booking. TIA!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on booking hotels to satisfy the Thai embassy's requirement of showing one month of hotel reservations for a 60-day tourist visa application. They are hesitant to make non-refundable bookings and want to find options with easy cancellation. Commenters suggest using platforms like Agoda and Booking.com, which offer flexible cancellation policies, as well as considering low-cost hostels. The conversation also touches on experiences with the Thai embassy in Vietnam and alternative options such as applying for an eVisa.

I thought the 60 day tourist visa you could get as an on line evisa application. I didn't have to take or send anything to an embassy I just completed an on line form and the e visa was emailed direct to me. I just showed it on my phone at immigration and they stamped my passport good for 60 days.

You can book via booking.com. There are options, pay at the hotel. so you don't lose any money or pay booking fee in advance. Hope it helps

Omg, in my experience thai embassy in Vietnam is really tough. Last time I went there they had a pile of photocopies they were giving to each of use after 1 day waiting saying they weren't able to handle a tourist visa for us for some of the 3 reasons you could find on that paper. Good luck with it.

Thai Embassy in Hanoi is like Phnom Phen's. They are famous for denying people. It's better to go to Consulate in Saigon

yes, that's absolutely right. I just wanted to share my experience with you in case you find yourself in the same situation. I presented all the required documentation, yet they turn me back. It was in Hanoi, they also gave me my money back which makes no sense if your visa is not accepted. The processing fees should be paid anyway.

In my experience the Thai Consulate in HCMC is really good, they helped me a lot when I went to Thailand last year. Sorry to hear the Embassy in Hanoi is tough.

Century Inn Hostel Bangkok US 3 per night.

I did Booking.com - can cancel 4 days before arrival FOC

Did you get asked on your application ‘proof of identity person staying with / invited you’ ?

Check Agoda, they tend to have good cancellation policies.

Or just book a cheap hostel that's like $3 per day and write it off and forget about it.

book multiple hotels and make sure all of them, after the first, have a 0 cost cancelation policy.
