The comments provide various responses, suggesting that purchasing a ticket may not be necessary and that it’s possible to submit flight options without making a purchase. Air Canada refused to let me board my flight to Thailand unless I could show a flight out before my visa (90 day tourist visa, the old system a few years ago) expired. I was taking onward flights to Cambodia, but I wanted to book it in Thailand. I had to quickly book a flight I could cancel later to get on the plane. Air Canada said it was a Thai govt requirement.

I was not happy, but I understand where this poster is coming from.

You will get a 60 day visa exemption free on entry, that can be extended to 90days for less than 2000 bht

I have read your post on many sites asking the same. If you meet the requirements of the visa application its almost guaranteed you'll be approved so stop messing about with tickets to cheat the system just buy the flights ✈️ you want ro use, upload the details and then fo.enjoy thailand. You are thinking too hard about this. I have always bought my tickets and always been approved for the visa. Some embassies will let you put flight details in others want the actually confirmation from your flight company.

Do you actually need a visa ?

You get 60 days on arrival plus can extend another 30 gives you 90 days. Unless you been to often on exempt already

Jeez. Book a fucking ticket to Thailand and apply for visa.

Barely anyone get refused tourist visa

You don't need to book any flights. All you need is to upload a copy of a flight option from an airlines website that is available. Print that.
