TLDR : Answer Summary
You can secure an unrestricted full fare ticket to Thailand that allows for date changes, which is preferable for those unsure of their return date. It's advisable to buy a flight that can be easily modified rather than a one-way ticket. Some travelers recommend using platforms like 12go Asia for booking low-cost exit tickets from Thailand, which can effectively resolve any issues with airlines questioning your departure plans. If you plan to stay longer, consider applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa available from the Thai embassy in the UK.

get the 6 month triple entry visa to avoid problems later.

Mike Davies can mail in passport with application printed online.Check the embassies website for full details. Only available in your home country, not abroad. The visa is glued into the passport.

I guess i would/could get that from thai embasy in uk [london] ?..is it a faff to get or pretty straight forward,.i,e online application ?

I flew out of Los Angeles and they wanted to see my ticket out of Thailand. They can refuse you even leaving your home country without that proof because if you are denied entry to Thailand, the airline is responsible for flying you back. I just buy a cheap ticket to Vietnam and don't use it

I always do one way tickets into Thailand and never a problem, you wait for a bargain price in and out with no stress at all.

You say that maybe you will stay up to 6mths. Don't forget that you can get a 6mth ME Visa in UK!

If it is your first time in Thailand they will not ask anything when you arrive. The only problem is that one way tickets are often almost the same price as return tickets.

Most flights are changeable for a fee and price difference unless its a discount/sale when you buy it.

12go Asia or seat61 for booking bus/train tickets out. Email confirmation & print if necessary.

Yes I been doing this each year. You buy it and make sure the date can be changed as much as you want. I done it for 12 years.

What you do is buy a unrestricted full fare ticket, such as TG Royal Silk Full Flex. You can change departure date later no charge up to one year.

Get a 60 day SETV visa and extend to 90 day is an option

okay just remember the easiest option could get you a ban for 10 years or at best just ripped off a few quid

I’ve done all my applications myself and the one for my wife to come to england was a nightmare but did it

If this stupid so and so can do it so can you mate

Just make sure you have everything they ask for

Missing one document can mean a rejection 😉

Plenty here will help you along the way

Especially people who have experience of doing the retirement visa

It’s been mentioned to do the elite visa quite a few times but I think that is to make life easier in the long run

They make it a tad difficult to stop everyone from doing it I suppose 😉

yeh I’ve a long term Thai g/f and her house in kampahengpet so that’s the plan,just looking for the easiest not the cheapest options.

I thought it was a holiday but a long one lol never guessed you was retiring mate good on you

There’s a few specifics you should add when putting questions here so that people can see the bigger picture and give you the best advice

There’s a good website for U.K. Thai people which works the same as here

Nothing for sale

Just good friendly advice

Lots of info on the visa types and how to put in the best application and what you will need to do it legitimately without some “agent”

I’ve not posted a link in case it’s not accepted

@Mike *******
if you are retiring and you have the funds you can do the application yourself then I imagine

Why pay an agent £800 and you still have to pay the thai embassy costs

Where if you do it yourself you save the money

Have you got a wife here or any other connections ?

If not I’ll be speaking to a friend on Friday he may be able to give you advice as I think he care here to retire with no connections

It’s a bit more serious this THAI visit as I retire end of November,so a lot more to think about than a 4 week holiday.

@Mike *******
even more reason to be cautious mate

It may seem stereotypical of me to say that

But the guy who offered me visa services actually posted in this group and in a Northern thai Page but would only PM anyone interested and then asked me to contact him through line and then I ended up speaking to a thai lady through the LINE number he gave

This Thai lady said she had done visas for her husband many times

Then I

Asked more questions and she never replied when I started to delve deeper into

Her “business” and history

I won’t mention the company name but they are I

if you plan on staying for that long why not just sign upto a thai language course for six months that offers Ed visa

It sounds like you have a lot of unsure plans

If he did a legit visa for you you would not need to do border runs just check in with immigration every 90 days

(If I remember-that correctly Garrett can confirm that )

But I would question anyone that can offer you all those different visa types for the same money

Marriage and retirement visa all have financial rulings which I can’t see him providing you with legitimate documents and I wouldn’t like to be caught in Thailand on major fraud charges
Nathan ***************
@Mike *******
mate I’d be wary of that one

I was offered a service by someone for a years visa

Pay 18k and he can guarantee ED visa and I don’t even have to study

Everything legal no problem

Then this very same person offered to put
*****
0 in my bank account and I pay him 25k for 1 years marriage visa because I want to live here with my thai wife

I thought this sounds good but my mate said all sounds suspicious, like why would someone put money in your account especially £10,000 🤔🤔

If you’ve been asking around on other visa sites there is scammers that lurk around for the gullible

If this service was recommended by a trusted friend then no problems

Was going to enter on the 30 day visa exempt ,then a visa agent has offered me a service before my 30 day expires,.told me no problem for tourist/non o/retirement/multi entry/single entry/,.dont need the big k baht in bank,.costs around the 25k baht,..sounds to good to be true ? !!,.everything is "no problem",.says i can get everything over there [thailand],.other than that just do a couple of border runs through mae sot,and maybe a flight out and back,also get a visa exept/extension,.etc,..i know its a minefield,....
Nathan ***************
@Mike *******
pay another couple of hundred quid for fully flex

Instead buy a return and then change the date back for £100

But that means you would have to specifically know a return date to change

Btw on what visa are you intending to stay in Thailand for so long ?
Mike ********

Perfect,.i was going to fly out with thai airways anyway,as the tkt price return was £500 ish,.how much more would i pay for a full flex,.?
