TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-O visa is primarily for retirement and family visits, valid for 90 days with the option to extend while in Thailand. Many expats are concerned about visa rules changing, especially for those in same-sex relationships. Recent Thai laws have become more inclusive, but there is a suggestion to revisit the topic closer to the intended move as immigration policies can change.

Same sex marriage only passed in Thai law recently so I shouldnt think it would be a problem. Thai laws are known to change at any given time and usually notice is very short or nil! So 6 years is like eternity to Thai people but I doubt a law passed like that would ever be reversed

Non O is a 90 day single entry visa used for retirement, family visits etc. it can be extended when you are in Thailand. Check your local Thai Embassy website for the details. Thailand is welcoming to people from all types of backgrounds.
