What happens to my Education Visa if I leave Thailand and can't return before it expires with my re-entry permit?

Education Visa. If I leave the country and get a re-entry permit but can’t make it back in to Thailand due to personal reasons, is there a penalty other than losing my ED validity? Or will I just have to apply for a new one? Black listing? Fine?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you leave Thailand with an Education Visa and obtain a re-entry permit but cannot return, you will lose the validity of your ED visa upon expiry. There is no penalty such as blacklisting or fines mentioned; you would simply need to reapply for a new visa.

Dan Daniel same if its a visa, try to get back, I',m saying that you can do a yearly extension rather than start over

Are you still on the original Visa or have you been to Immigration and been granted an Extension of Stay?

Do I have to give a date of re-entry? Or is it just a permit for permission to come back in when I’m ready. No specific date?

@Dan *******
The re-entry permit operates up to your current entry stamp date, no other date matters. You have to re-enter before your current entry until stamp date to maintain that status.
