I am currently being refused reentry. I have a valid ED Visa and a reentry permit. They are saying I need to show a copy of my contract with my school. Had anyone else had this happen?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reports being denied reentry to Thailand despite holding a valid ED Visa and reentry permit. The immigration officers requested proof of enrollment, such as a contract with their school, highlighting increased scrutiny on ED Visa holders. The conversation explains that immigration officials are focused on ensuring students are active participants in their courses. Other users share experiences and advice, suggesting carrying documentation of school enrollment and avoiding unnecessary travel during the course of study. Overall, it's emphasized that students should prioritize their studies and provide proper evidence if they must leave Thailand.
has been ALLOWED to enter Thailand at the Phuket airport.
FYI... His Ed Visa is for the study of the Chinese language.
The PHUKET Thai Immigration Officers brought another Chinese person seeking to enter Thailand...
They asked Matt if he would help Thai immigration officers to translate with the Chinese citizen for them.
"A Chinese National was brought in with Visa issues and I offered to translate for them"
Matt agreed š
" I'm sure that showing my ability to speak Chinese helped to show that I was studying it, but they told me it was MY HELP that WAS the REASON they LET me in"
Matt also said that there were others being questioned by Thai Immigration which also had the Ed Visa.
And when asked to show PROOF of their Ed Visa course of study contract with the Thai language school, They did and were ALLOWED to enter Thailand.
Bottom line...
Stay in Thailand during the Ed Visa course of study.
If absolutely necessary to leave, have proof of your course of study with you.
That's the first time we have heard of the need to Carry Ed Visa course documents with you when you LEAVE Thailand.
please KEEP ME UPDATED on your situation... By using PM message me. As it's nearly midnight in Phuket, I will close comments on your post for the night. Hopefully you have found a successful way to enter Thailand.

They want to see that you are actually enrolled in school and not trying to just live here on an ED visa.

Show the contract then or any email or whatever proof, if itās a legitimate ED visa.
If notā¦.
Donāt know if this is allowed to post here. If not , please delete it. Donāt sign anything and propose them to book a ticket to a neighboring country. Normally, they will deny and send you to the country you just arrived from, but you can try it. After that choose a friendly land-border into Thailand, where you wonāt have any trouble and learn from your āmistakeā.
I wish you success in obtaining permission to enter Thailand.
And I suggest you get the correct Thai Visa for LIVING in and Working from Thailand. You may find the New LTR 10 year Thai Visa to be an excellent Visa choice for you and your business.

This is the post which I posted about the Ed Visa and being DENIED entry into Thailand when you leave during the course of study for which you obtained the Ed Visa.
I am going to share this Post which was submitted for approval Friday March 24th at 9:00pm... and I replied via PM with my advice.
I have not shown the name of the poster, BUT wish to share this as we get this kind of question about traveling out of Thailand when on an Ed Visa for Study of Thai language.
Especially now, due to the ADDED SCRUTINY of ED VISAS... and the SCHOOLS by Thai Immigration, students are expected to be attending classes and pass tests in order to obtain any extension of stay of the Ed Visa.
Questions are being asked by Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival back into Thailand. And reentry may be DENIED, especially if you have a recent history of staying in Thailand using varied visas Visa exempt entry and COVID extensions.
I suggest you FOCUS on YOUR STUDIES and leave the travels to other countries until after you have completed the full course of study.

THIS IS HAPPENING NOW....

YES it's happening often... The Ed Visa is for attendance at classes and passing tests during the term of the course. We have warned about this happening in other posts on this forum.
so example if person have emergency and fly to example funeral etc, person can not coming back even person have re entry stamp? And cannot fly weekend holiday to Singapore? I'm just confused that how that's possible they can denied entry š±
REALITY is that Thai Immigration is questioning and denying re-entry. If there's a funeral... THEN carry proof of the needed travel. Otherwise best to stay in Thailand during the entire Ed Visa course of study.
Show the contract then or any email or whatever proof, if itās a legitimate ED visa.

now that makes 3 airports where we are receiving reports of DENIED entry of those who hold a current Ed Visa for study.... BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang airport and NOW Phuket.
