What Happens to a Work Permit and Visa Status if My Colleague Leaves Before the Work Permit Expires?

Hi experts.

A colleague's work permit and 90 day check runs out mid June. They are not planning on returning next term to work. If they inform the school and school cancels the work permit, what will happen regarding the new visa amnesty dates? Will they just have to exit the country on the day the amnesty finishes or as soon as the borders open?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual must cancel their work permit at the Ministry of Labor on their last working day. Following the cancellation, they will need to either leave the country or can stay until their visa's admitted until date. Due to current circumstances allowing an amnesty rule, they may be able to remain until the amnesty expires, even if the borders remain closed.

They have to cancel the work permits at the Ministry of labor themselves on the last day of working.

After that they cancel the Extension of Stay permitted up to ../../.. stamp if they use this type of stay and leave the country OR,

they can stay until the last day of their Admitted until ../../.. date if they entered using a new visa.

As at the moment leaving the country is not that easy, they are allowed to use the amnesty rule,
