Can I extend my tourist visa in Phuket for 30 days instead of 7, or do I have to leave the country?

Good afternoon all, My family and I have just joined my husband in Phuket. My husband is working and has his work permit/visa and I was going to get a non O ( I think) visa as i'm not working.

The plans have now changed and I will hopefully be working soon so will be applying for my own work permit/visa. My tourist visa expires next week and I want to get a 30 day extension rather than doing a trip to KL and then another a few weeks later.

I was told Phuket no longer give 30 day extensions, only 1 week... Does anyone know if this is true? Can I travel elsewhere in Thailand to get the extension? or will I have to leave the country? Thanks in advance!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is seeking advice on extending their tourist visa while in Phuket, wondering if they can obtain a 30-day extension since they've heard conflicting information about only being able to extend for 7 days. They are currently on a tourist visa that expires soon and need guidance on whether they can stay longer or must leave the country for a visa renewal.

And you can also take a look at this website or even contact them. Asking advice and then keep on telling that we are all wrong just because lady at an office who never used a Thai visa in her life tells you what ever she thinks. I wish you good luck

She came in on a 30 day visa exempt. So she can now extend at immigration for another 30 days right for 1900 baht?

Then when she needs to get her non-b visa (through work), she can fly to KL and do it there and only has to leave once.

This is correct and no changes that you can only extend 7 days after the initial 30 day visa exemption?
Robert *******
Okay, than she is telling you things that she does not know. If she does visa's, she knows nothing about a Visa Exempt Entry, an entry without visa.

@Robert ******
thats what I'm hoping to do but was told that there is no longer a 30 day extension for 1.900 B on 1 week...
Robert *******
Correct Vinny, once a 30 day Extension of Stay for 1.900 Thb. During that time her employer can arrange to get the documents together for a Non Immigrant B visa by using the Immigration Officer or if they do not meet the requirements a trip abroad for a new visa

I will guess that she already has extended 30 days...and her reference to 7 days is if she applied for added 30 days it would be denied and given 7 days to depart.

@Natalie *******
you can get an additional 30 days extension...but may we ask What is your nationality/passport nation?

I haven't extended yet at all. I've only been here 3 weeks so sill on my initial 30 day visa without extension but I've been told that in Phuket I cant even get an initial 30 days extension.
Robert *******
Not sure who told you, but if you have the Single Entry Tourist Visa and you are inside Thailand on the initial 60 days and still before the Admitted until ../../. date you can apply once for a 30 day Extension of Stay in Phuket.

it says on the stamp until 18 oct which is 30 days from when I entered... it was someone who supports with visas at my husbands job. they said in Phuket you can only get 1 week extensions, not 30 days now.
