What happens if my boyfriend doesn’t do his 90-day reporting for his DTV visa in Thailand?

My boyfriend has a DTV visa, and he needs to do his 90-day reporting. What could happen if he doesn’t go? He plans to wait another month or so before leaving the country because he’s too lazy to do it.

I’m worried because I don’t think this is something he should take lightly. It’s not necessarily as simple as paying a 2,000 baht fine and moving on. There could be more serious consequences.
Answer summary
The discussion centers around the importance of fulfilling the 90-day reporting requirement for holders of a DTV visa in Thailand. Users express concern about potential consequences of not reporting on time, including fines (up to 8,000 baht), immigration record complications, and the possible risk of deportation or being banned from re-entry into Thailand. Many comments emphasize that neglecting visa responsibilities reflects poorly on the individual's character and commitment, sparking suggestions to reassess the relationship.

He's definitely one of those pos that doesn't deserve to migrate anywhere. Anyway you can find another bf when he gets jailed

Direct Consequences

• Standard Fine: You will typically face an administrative fine of 2,000 Thai Baht (THB) if you report late after the 7-day grace period.

• Higher Police/Immigration Fine: If you are stopped and caught by police or immigration officers outside the grace period without having filed, the fine can increase up to 5,000 THB.

• Immigration Record: A record of the late report is noted in your immigration file, which can lead to increased scrutiny on future entries or applications.

• Visa Extension Complications: According to community feedback on platforms like Reddit, skipping or neglecting 90-day reports often creates hurdles, extra fines, or additional checks when you later apply for a 180-day stay extension at an immigration office.

Tbh, if it's just 90 day reporting, he's going to end up paying a fine. It can range from 2000 - 8000+. My friend had to pay an 8,000 baht fine for not reporting.

To avoid the fines, just visit immigration and fill out the forms (and bring the TM 30). It's easy. He'll be in and out in an hour or two depending on location and time of day.

It doesn't constitute an overstay, I wasn't implying that it does.

Jetsupa Juerjoon he can do it by mail. If he has already done 1 he can do it online. The fine for being late is ฿2,000. If caught it's ฿5,000 plus ฿200 a day. If he gets to the airport without being stopped it resetsonce he is stamped out and from what I have read without fine. But it will go on his immigration record and bring more scrutiny in the future.

"If you hold a long-term visa (such as a Marriage, Retirement, or Work visa) and plan to return to Thailand, the fine will catch up to you during your next major interaction with local immigration. When you go to renew your annual visa extension or report a new address, officers will check your entry/exit history against your 90-day logs, see the gap from your previous stay, and issue the 2,000 THB fine before processing your paperwork."

Richard Jordan On a DTV, the first 90-days report after an entry must ALWAYS be made in person.

And because on a DTV you need to leave before 180 days are up, you NEVER have to do a second 90-days report.

Then the next re-entry will make a personal visit necessary, again.

However: If he visits Immigration, the fine for a missed 90-days report is 2000 Baht.

If he doesn't go, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. Upon exiting Thailand, nobody will check

Jetsupa Juerjoon your bf is correct. I have lived in Thailand for 20 years and I go to immigration once a year to do my 90-Day report and always pay the 2000 baht.
