So I’ve put in for the 60 day T visa with a return date several days past the 60 day mark, just like I have done in the past, and this time they are asking for proof of outbound flight within the 60 days.
I’ve got all of the previous 30 day extensions documents but for some reason I feel like I should just pick up an onward ticket for the $15 and submit that instead.
Anyone try and succeed in receiving the 60 day visa by showing the original flights and proof of previous extensions after getting the letter requesting the additional flight info?
I applied with the NYC office.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a 60-day T visa but was asked for proof of an outbound flight within the 60 days, contrary to previous applications. Comments suggest obtaining a cheap onward ticket as many embassies, including the NYC office, now require this proof. Others share their experiences, including successfully securing visas with a signed declaration for future extensions or using a refundable ticket. Some provide examples of services for acquiring 'fake' onward tickets for visa applications.
You can also just book a Fully Refundable Ticket, and cancel upon arrival. Or, save the $15, and use a Travel Website offering free booking and cancellation within 24-48hrs, and cancel upon arrival.
Well after checking the prices and thinking about possibly needing proof when I actually enter Thailand (or if the airline wants proof too) I decided to book a side trip that I can cancel later if I for some reason do not get an extension this time.
Don’t want to be accused of making up my own rules now do I.
Having dealt with the NY office as well and after emailing back and forth with them they gave me the option of sending them a signed letter declaring I will get the 30 day extension and taking full responsibility and expenses from any overstay expenses, which they accepted and gave me my visa
Get an onward ticket from one of the websites that specialize in that. Many, many embassies now require this and a lot more since covid. Don't try to fight or argue with them as you'll get nowhere. Save the onward travel ticket as well for when you check in with your airline as they might ask for proof of onward travel within 60 days as well.
