If you book flights through the VIETJET app be aware that domestic fares are dealt with in Vietnam ONLY however international to Thailand are a different company and any inquiry must be directed to Thailand . Though it appears it is one company they will not issue credits to each other or share. The call centre number shown in the web site is for Vietnam ONLY . Thai vietjet is +6620891909 . I just wasted an international flight ! Fly AIRASIA as a much better and professional low cost airline .
Answer summary
When booking flights with VietJet, it's important to note that domestic flights are handled in Vietnam, while international flights to Thailand are managed by a different company. Therefore, inquiries about international flights should be directed to the Thai VietJet office. The call center number for international queries is +6620891909 in Thailand. Some users recommend AirAsia as a superior alternative for low-cost flights. Additionally, when considering visa applications, it's not necessary to have visited Thailand prior to applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV), but many suggest visiting first to ensure the country suits your needs.

Let me think.

If you want to become much better in Muay Thai, or cooking, it make sense to visit the facility and check out what is offered BEFORE you commit for years of learning.

If you decide to apply based on medical treatment, I would make sure that I know where it is going to take place, how the facilities are, how care is taking place.

If it is about working, I would make sure I can work, a nice place, an extra room for computer set up, stable and fast internet, not next to a bar with all night loud music.

BUT you have DTV, so who cares.

There is no requirement for you to have visited Thailand in order for you to apply for DTV.

However, as others here say, it’s probably best to have a trip here first to see if you actually like Thailand. It’s not for everyone.

Having a trip to Thailand in your record will have no effect on the outcome of your visa application.

No, you do not need to be in Thailand before applying for the DTV. In most cases, it’s applied for from outside Thailand through a Thai embassy or consulate.

What matters most is having the right supporting documents (remote work, freelance, or soft-power category) and meeting the financial proof requirement.

The exact process can vary depending on the embassy, so it’s always best to double-check with the one you plan to use.

Why in the world would you apply for a visa to live and work and you’ve never even visited?

Because some people will use the visa for the purpose for which it was created, being digital nomads who plan on staying for a short period before trying somewhere else and then periodically coming back. Even slow travellers who do not work online still use the internet to manage their finances and the like. A lot of countries require visa runs and Bangkok is an ideal central location.

No, but why would you take what is essentially a longterm visa for somewhere you have never been?

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 I mean it's not much of a commitment. An unnecessary EXTRA TRIP is going to involve blowing $1500ish on airfare and movement. While taking a $400 visa and only going once, even if you decide you don't like it, you save all $1500. Hence an expected net gain of $1100 in the worst case scenario. $1500 gain in the best case.

Still the same outcome, spend $400 on a visa , $1500 on flights , fly there and don’t like it =$1900 done.
