If I get a "single entry" non immigrant B visa, what exactly does that mean? For example, I want to return to Thailand, and then leave again this week and come back next week. Can I get back in without getting another visa? Have I used up my single entry the minute I leave the country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A single entry Non-Immigrant B visa allows you to enter Thailand only once for a maximum stay of 90 days. Once you leave the country, you have used up your single entry. To return to Thailand without applying for a new visa, you need to obtain a re-entry permit. There are options for a single re-entry permit (1,000 THB) or a multiple re-entry permit (3,800 THB), which allows you to maintain your admitted stay date upon your return.

What does a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa mean. Nothing more than a Single (one time) entry into Thailand for a maximum stay of 90 days and the possibility to obtain a Work Permit. If you want to travel during this 90 days you have 3 options. Just leave and before return apply for a new Visa, or buy a Single Re-Entry permit, 1.000 Thb and on return you will get the same Admitted to stay date as you got when you entered Thailand using this visa. Or get the multiple re-entry permit, 3.800 Thb and on return you will get the same Admitted to stay date as you got when you entered Thailand using this visa

Sorry, if your employer of your lawyer get all the documentation in order you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working at the Immigration Office, Once that is stamped in your passport you can directly apply for the multiple re-entry permit to keep this 1 year of stay alive when you wish to travel.

A 90 day non imm b single is ‘stay’ period to get your s#%t in order with your employer internally. Proper process. Either your employer provides your documents for your extension to stay OR your lawyer prepares them (self employment/director) for a non b MULTI application. Either/or

Thank you Robert. Explained better than me 🙏

You can get re-entry permit (single entry for 1000 baht, multiple 3800 baht) to keep your admitted to stay period valid.

(1900 baht is for extension, not for this, btw)

With this, you can 'utilize' your 90 days from your Non B single entry visa.

You cannot get two different visas concurrently,

yes important to not get the two confused. If you have a non b single then 99% of the time you should have a plan to follow on.. as I outlined above. That’s what non b singles are for..

you don't have to pay to re-enter if you have multiple entry visa. But you need to pay more than 1000 baht if you want to enter more than one time during same period from single entry visa.

I’m happy to be corrected. Last time I was party to a re-entry - application I was told 1900 - I’m aware that’s the same number as an extension to a visa exempt - again happy to be corrected. Why would you pay a fee to re-enter on a multi?

Im not sure how much it is, or if you have to even pay for it.

I wanted to book a flight to Bali that would have me change airports in Bangkok, but that requires entering and then leaving the country so I guess booking that flight cant happen because I wont have a reentry permit

Yes, it means you can only enter once, once you have entered on that visa if you leve you would need to apply for new visa. You can apply at your local immigration office for a re-entry permit.
