Hi Folks,
First of all let me convey my sincere thanks for the information the forum members provide. Immensely useful.
I look regularly at posts and have gathered a great deal of information in preparation for my arrival in BKK on October 27th.
I do have a few questions fuelled by my anxiety and desire to minimise hassle:
I am a 73 year old UK citizen.
I intend arriving on the Non O visa obtained in the UK on the 27th October.
My understanding is that I should apply to the Thai embassy in London online for the Non O visa about 15 working days (3 weeks) before my departure for Thailand.
I already have an AIS SIM card that I got on my last trip and it is still valid.
My intention is to get a serviced apartment for 5 months in the On Nut area of BKK. The manager of the serviced apartment said they will give me the TM30 that I will take ,together with identity documents etc, for me to get a Certificate of Residence from the Main immigration office.
I have read that a condo lease , or owners document from the landlord may be needed by immigration in addition to the TM30.
Given that I intend only having a short term serviced apartment for maybe 5 months would the TM30 alone be acceptable to immigration or do I need a formal lease document or would some other document be needed from the serviced apartment landlord?
When applying for a one year extension would it be advisable for me to get a proper 1 year lease on a condo, proof of which I can then show when applying for the extension or would a serviced apartment receipt document for a few months be acceptable?
Anybody else been in this situation?
Banking and depositing the 800000thb.
I realise the money has to be in an account for two months to "season"- and this is my other query - is that 2 full calendar months or 62 days? Given I actually arrive in BKK on the 27th October is there enough time for the money to season if it has to be in an account for 2 calendar months for me to then get a one year extension? And that is assuming I can get an account quite easily.
I will use Wise for the transfer.
I will be helped /accompanied by my Thai partner and she speaks good English which could be useful in the face to face encounters with immigration.
Thanks for your patience and taking the time to read the slightly rambling post above.
Jay.
