What documents do I need to apply for a DTV (Workation) visa to Thailand, especially regarding income from crypto?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently in Vietnam preparing a file for a DTV (Workation) visa application.

I currently have :

* Bank statements from my European bank showing over 500,000 THB over the past 3 months.

* Screenshots of my crypto wallet with over 3 million THB.

* A portfolio showing my income (exclusively from crypto), including an Excel sheet detailing the revenue and supporting screenshots.

* A screenshot of my Booking.com reservation in Vietnam.

* A "motivation letter" explaining why I want to go to Thailand and roughly how I'm financially independent thanks to crypto.

* A passport photo.

I plan to go in person to the Thai embassy in Hanoi to apply for the visa.

Do I need any additional documents? Is there a form I need to fill out? If so, where can I download and print it?

Do you think my application might be rejected because all my income comes from crypto?

Thanks in advance! 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is preparing to apply for a DTV (Workation) visa to Thailand and has compiled various documents, including bank statements and crypto portfolio evidence. In the comments, several users discuss the necessity of applying online—highlighting that applications are no longer accepted in person at Thai embassies. They also address concerns about the source of income, particularly from crypto, mentioning that proof of income might be required for the Workation visa despite some stating that having a sufficient amount in savings is what ultimately matters. The consensus emphasizes the need for additional proof of location and possibly switching to a soft power visa application if income from trading is not accepted.

You need to apply online.

The crypto activity may not be good enough for workstation, you can try .. but you will probably need to do softpower.

You need to apply on the thaievisa website, everything is online.

I make money through investments and instead I applied and was approved through soft power option. Sometimes they don’t accept investments as income for workcation. You can try but might be rejected and lose the application fee. You’ll definitely need more documents for your proof of location.

they won’t count anything crypto/stock/market related as income. it has to be a foreign company.

i signed up for a online thai soft power course valid for 5 years. 35k baht.

There's a risk applying as a trader in the region, I think. If you had a business registration and applied in London for example, that would be another story.

Why don't you submit a soft power application instead?

You'll need a lot more proof of location than a hotel booking, like a visa, entry stamp, dated picture of a receipt from a local business etc.

Crypto portfolio is not counted neither you can go to embassy . Everything approved online

You can only apply online, since November. There is no applying in person...

All applications are on line now so there’s no point in going in person

You will need to complete the appropriate visa application form

No one cares where your income is from as long as there is the equivalent of 500k thb in a savings account

Since the OP wants to submit via the workcation route, they certainly care about the source of income.

your experience is exactly that ‘your experience’. It is not a requirement of the DTV Visa although as you found you may be asked about it.

Not only my experience, some embassies/consulates even mention it in their requirements. Proof of payment is pretty clear. I agree that there is no minimum requirement for said income, but income is pretty much on the menu (meaning unpaid work would not qualify), even if they don't always require a proof of income.

And again, in the cas we are dealing with here, what could this applicant show as a proof of economic activity? Apparently there's no business registered, no contract, etc.

no they don’t There is no income requirement forDTV just savings

1. Many embassies/consulates ask for proof of income, especially for the workcation scheme, but not only. Taipei is known for asking for proof of income, even for the soft power route.

2. How will this specific applicant prove employment then? Apparently he's a trader, has no business registration, no contract to show, etc. Income is his only way to prove his economic activity.
