What are the requirements for applying for a DTV workcation visa as a self-supporting individual in Thailand?

Hi All,

I want to apply for a DTV workcation visa based on my being self supportive by managing my stocks. I see online I will need to provide bank statements, but no specifics. I have scoured the websites, googled it and scrolled down through these FB groups but am still unsure. My questions are:

* Does anyone know if they have specific minimum income thresholds and if so for how many months do they want bank statements?

* I am not incorporated/have no company or paychecks, it's just me and my cap gains and dividend distribution transfers. Have others gotten visas in this scenario?

* I plan to apply while in Ho Chi Minh, but through the ThaiEvisa site portal. Does anyone have any pertinent information on doing it this way versus in person at the embassy in HCM?

* Alternately, how many times in a row can I leave Thailand and re enter under the 60-90 day tourist visa and not have any problems with immigration? I have heard 2-3 times, but what is your knowledge of this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on applying for a DTV workcation visa based on managing stocks and asks about minimum income thresholds and necessary bank statements. They inquire if previous applicants in similar situations have succeeded and whether applying online through the ThaiEvisa site from Ho Chi Minh offers advantages over in-person applications. Additionally, they question the number of times one can re-enter Thailand under a tourist visa without facing immigration issues.

You might get away with it if you can show you are registered for and pay tax but otherwise forget it and go with soft power.

You probably won't get away with 3 visa exempt entries, possibly even 2 would be an issue

For you last point regarding tourist and visa exempt I did it for almost 18 months back in 2017 and 2018. I never once did a border bounce though and spent time out of Thailand in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia for ways ot week at a time. I doubt I would be able to do that now

A guy we know has just done a year but at a certain border point. He has disappeared recently though and we reckon it came to an end.

A year is not gonna slide anymore. With all the visa options available for 6 months -5 year stays IOs are questioning much more

European passport with Singapore PR. Yeah he managed it last year but I reckon it has ended Previously. December 2023, he had a warning flying in and out montly that year, had a note made in his passport and the system. He managed to have that removed at a friendly office up country

Monthly visits for a year is really stretching it..I guess the Euro passport helped with that stretch, can't see a developing nation passport get that far with Monthly visits.

I think his Singapore PR helped. I came up from Singapore about 14 or 15 times in one year but mostly for only a few nights and some only 1 night. A pal doing month on month off in Singapore shipyards got pulled after about his 5th trip on his month off

Just on a rough overlook, I’d say you might be better off applying not thru workcation, but though soft power.

- there is no monthly income requirement, only that you have 500k baht (or equivalent in a bank account)

- when I say bank account, I mean bank account; not crypto or stocks account.

- HCM application is done online. Thru the website.

Hi, looked into soft power activities, 6-12 mo of courses or medical treatment will amount to close to $2,000USD from what I have checked into so far. One agent mentioned a volunteer visa but I don't know of any orgs that aren't where the volunteer stays on location with the non profit. I need something in Bangkok, I can provide my own accommodations, just need them to file the form that I am volunteering for them and then do the volunteering once approved.

Anonymous participant the volunteer option is all but nearly finished. There are Muay Thai courses etc which can be obtained for reasonable prices, but it’s all about what you want to do. You won’t qualify yourself without your company being registered officially unfortunately.

Anonymous participant Volunteer Visas are all but dead. First time I have heard of any agent mentioning one in years since Big Joke went after them. Even genuine charities and NGO find it hard to get them these days. You also need a Work Permit to volunteer.
