I want to apply for 30 day extension to my visa exemption (60 days).

I'll visit Jomtien immigration office. Apart from my passport and 1900 baht what else is needed?

Can I go a week or two after arrival in Thailand to be sure about extension for planning flight out at later date?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a 30-day extension of your visa exemption at the Jomtien immigration office, you will need your passport, 1900 baht, a TM.30 receipt, a photo, a copy of the ID page of your passport, and your latest entry stamp. It is important to note that you must apply within a week of the end of your current visa validity; attempting to apply earlier will likely result in being turned away.

I never showed a TM 30 . Whatever that is. Didnt show a receipt either. Got my 30 extra days no problem

No you cannot go a week or two after arrival. Even the most generous immigration offices only let your apply when you have 45 days or less left. And Jomtien is far from the most generous. They are actually the most restrictive office in Thailand. You can only apply for a tourist extension during the last week of your stay. If you try to apply any earlier you'll wait in line and then be turned away and told to come back when you have less than a week left.

and if I'm refused I have only a week to book my flight ? that's unfair. I want to book a flight now (if I'm leaving by Nov 9) or in a couple of weeks if my visa is extended until Dec 9. You appear to indicate I won't find out if we'll be given extensions until a week before our visas expire. Maybe we should border bounce instead?

you can't book your return ticket based on a "possible" extension. it has to be within the initial 60 days "assuming visa exempt". Is best to get a ticket that has cancel/rebook. If you don't probably not going to be immigration, but your airlines will not even give you a boarding pass, if you do not follow the rules.

im already in Thailand. I managed to get here in compliance with the rules. I hope to add 30 day extension and a border bounce so I won't need a new ticket out until Feb 2025. Still I like to book tickets well in advance to get best prices. Last minute can be almost double price.

you'll get the 30 day extension. I've never heard of anyone being denied. You can safely book you flight on that basis.

Copy of your TM.30 registration.

TM.30 receipt, a pass photo, copy of ID-page passport and your latest stamp. You apply on TM.7. In Jomtien you can apply within the last week.

do you have to take your passport with you for the immigration to copy or make copies for them? Also can you collect the TM7 form earlier to complete before going to immigration?
