Hello Folks,

Looking to do a second Mae Sai Border Run this Sunday. Seeking some feedback and experience.

1. March - visited Phuket via flight for a short stay and left to Cambodia.

2. May 7 - flew into Chiang Mai (30 days stamp)

3. June 6 - first border run at Mae Sai (30 days)

4. July 5 - extended at Chiang Mai immigration (30 days)

Aware that there are two border crossings permitted per year. I don’t plan on staying in Thailand for too long. Currently at a retreat and plan to “check out” and leave around Aug 20th. If I knew my stay would be this long intially, would’ve just applied for a proper visa at Thai embassy.

What can I prepare for to minimize any issues at the second border crossing come this Sunday?

a. Bring paperwork from the retreat

b. Grab 20,000B in cash

c. Have a return flight?

Thank you in advance, wonderful people 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to do a second border run at Mae Sai and seeks advice on how to prepare for the process. They are aware of the rules regarding border crossings in Thailand and want to ensure that they have everything in order to minimize any issues. The comments suggest that as long as the user hasn't used up two 30-day visa exempt entries by land this year, they should be fine with just their passport at Mae Sai immigration.

dial the paranoia back a notch or three :P

As long as you haven't had TWO 30 day visa exempt entry stamps by land yet this calendar year you will be fine bouncing out and back in at the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with Myanmar. You will not be asked for proof of funds, proof of onward travel or a hotel booking bouncing out and back in at that border.

Mae Sai immigration will want your passport. That’s it.

Getting paranoid as my passport is littered with stamps from prior visits last year and other countries in Asia as of recent
