Hey all,
I overheard some stuff while in the immigration office which made me raise an eyebrow, so just thought I'd pass it on.
So first, where I was and what was I doing. In the immigration Bureau at Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok. Got my 30 day TR visa extension -- it's my first one, so they didn't let me do 60 day covid but it's same office as 60 days.
Anyway, the guy next to me was arguing with immigration officer. Apparently he needed some document to prove his quarantine which he said the hotel didn't give him -- i couldn't see what he had with him, but i could see he had the negative covid test and some other documents from the hotel, but apparently not what the immigrations officer wanted.
I was actually getting a bit worried cuz I didn't bring the papers confirming I did my quarantine with me. They didn't ask to see them.
Anyone know what that could be about?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) shares their experience at the immigration office in Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, where they received a 30-day TR visa extension. They overheard a fellow applicant arguing with an immigration officer over the need for quarantine documentation, which raised concerns for the OP as they did not bring their own documents. The discussion clarified that only the Special Tourist Visa (STV) requires proof of completing the Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ). It was advised that it's better to carry necessary quarantine papers when visiting immigration offices to avoid complications.
