Hey all, my family and I needed to get to HK at a certain time and was thinking of staying in Thailand for about a week (ideally, but mind end being 2 weeks) before taking a flight to HK. Was wondering what documents are needed? I hear there's a 7 day quarantine requirement when you get into the country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a family trip to Thailand before flying to Hong Kong and is inquiring about the necessary documents and quarantine regulations. Suggestions include considering the Phuket Sandbox program, especially if vaccinated, and mention of ongoing quarantine mandates in Hong Kong.

Isn't HK still doing that mandatory quarantine for anyone flying into the airport?

Yeah. Still do. The issue is I'm coming from the US which is a banned country. I need to go to another country that is not banned and spend the right amount of days there before flying to HK.

If its just for Holiday you should consider the Phuket Sandbox.

Are you vaccinated that makes all the difference

Thanks! Follow up question. If I have a 4 year old with me who is not vaccinated, will I need to Quarantine longer because of that?

HK requirement is very hard so check well what they classify for Thailand. 21 days is the time you have to had spent in a country they deem not high risk to be allowed to do Test&Go.

Example your last 21 days was spent in Singapore.

Bangkok will be easiest. Phuket seems to be where that sandbox thing is at. But my ticket if rerouted is not available to come to Phuket. Just to clarify, the website says test and go (

needs to be 21 days in Bangkok? Or did I not understand that correctly?

ok you dont need to quarantine with test and go, but small chance if you are positive on your tests on day 1 and day 5 you could get stuck here.

Where do you intend to go in Thailand ?

Yes vaccinated. It's more passing through to HK than a holiday tbh
