Hey visa specialists

First of all thank you for your support last time for the thai visa extension. Everything was perfect.

I have a few more things I want to do in Thailand like volunteering at an animal sanctuary and also a little holiday so I want to apply for a 2 month visa.

I am currently in Malaysia.

I was reading that you need a proof of accommodation for the entire 2 month.

Maybe I can ask the animal sanctuary for the proof of my stay there but I the position is not 100% confirmed yet so i would like to ask what other options I could consider and what else I need to know when applying for a 2 month Tourist Visa in Malaysia.

I was having a look online but I don't know why Google is showing me a lot of results for Malaysian citizens e.g. costs if a Malaysian citizens want to apply for the visa (could have to do with the IP address of the WiFi I am using)

My passport is German so I need visa information for Germany. If I Google "for germany" Google is assuming I gonna apply from Germany and they show me information like flight from and back to your home country. (I want to travel from Malaysia to Thailand by bus)

I hope my text trying to explain in english is clear enough and not confusing.

Basically I would love to know what I need to apply for the visa, the costs and maybe what I should be aware of.

Thank you so much

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on obtaining a 2 month Tourist Visa for Thailand while currently in Malaysia, with plans to volunteer and travel. They specifically want to know about proof of accommodation, costs, and any additional requirements, particularly as a German passport holder.

Thanks for the answers so far. I was thinking aswell to just get a tourist visa.

Does anyone have information about the proof of accommodation let say if I decide to travel around and not stay at one place. Thank you

depends on the consulate you're going to use Penang requires you show a booking for at least 2 weeks or so. Others that ask for proof of lodging require 5 days or so and SOME require it for the whole time you get the visa for (60 days).

Read the requirements for the consulate you're going to use and follow them.

you are HIGHLY unlikely to get a Non-O based on volunteering for just 2 months. I'd wager the place you're going to volunteer at doesn't even provide the required documentation so you could go to a thai consulate to get a 90 day Non-O visa based on volunteering.

You are far better off applying for a single entry tourist visa (by meeting the requirements) and then if you're hell-bent on volunteering for 2 months, keeping your mouth shut and your head down while you do it.

1. To my knowledge, to volunteer, you need a Non-O, not a tourist visa. To volunteer, you'll need a work permit; legally. That should be a single entry Non-O which is valid for 3 months.

2. If you'll volunteer, and the place you're volunteering is issuing the Non-O, they may be able to send you a place to stay.

3. The cost of the visa to Thailand is the same for both Malaysia and Germans, and it's in the local current. It looks like 150 RM for an single entry visa.

4. The consulates are easy, BUT you need a checklist. The tourist visa checklist for KL is
********************************************************************************
I believe the other embassies in Malaysia have similar checklists.

5. A person holding a german passport would use the same checklist as most other countries.
