Hello, I plan to retire and relocate to Thailand next year. Despite not having the 800,000 Thai baht requirement, I receive a monthly income of about $3,000. Can I secure a retirement visa using just my monthly income?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about securing a Thai retirement visa without meeting the 800,000 baht bank deposit requirement, given their monthly income of $3,000. Responses suggest potential avenues, including the possibility of using an agent or opting for a different visa type (such as the Non-O retirement visa) that may allow for a monthly income basis instead. However, some responses emphasize that strictly following the rules is recommended, while others highlight various strategies to facilitate the process.

Simple answer is NO

incorrect, many ways to do it without having 800k.

I said the 'simple answer' not all the convoluted ways around it which just confuse so many OP's

Yes.

And don’t take the OA route. Better go the normal O for retirement.

It doesn’t need a health insurance, which you need to exchange after a year anyway into one that really fits your needs and is not from a list of expensive companies.

Plus: you don’t need an agent. The majority has done it without agency. It’s really simple. The agency just does it for you.

Except: if one doesn’t have the money, then they bribe for you and you can’t evade it in the future.

Then you came of another longstay extension for instance a OA.

It will not work if you start with The non O retirement 90 days visa. The normal start.

@Robert *******
You can not start with the monthy income method.

@Willem ***
Not?

I did.

Edit: and I did it wrong on first try, believing that it’s an average of 65k. But it wasn’t. Must be 65k each and every month. So I started twice on basis of the 65k monthly.

I recommend taking out a loan from home country and then paying it off little by little and putting the 800,000 baht into a bank account here in Thailand when you arrive here.

Yes you can very easily get a retirement Visa without the 800k deposit. You will need to use a Visa agency. If you're moving to Bangkok just send me a message and I'll get you the information of the company that I used and was very pleased with their level of service

0 baht deposit. Talk to an agent
Mma *******
Hi Carolyn; yes you can.

You can use an agent to furnish the 800,000 for you and comfortably live off your 3k/mth. Come here on the Visa exemption and do it all whilst in country.
Greg *********
If you are that tight for money it's better not retire there

@Greg ********
on the contrary, that could be the main reason he wants to retire there

Thailand is not a good place to be if you have limited finances.there is no support network or sympathy for anyone on low income.

$3000 what… US, Pound, Euro, Australian??? Has to equal

You do realise there's a dozen or more countries using $, all of which have different values? lol lol
Tony *********
@Andy ***********
maybe it's the Zimbabwe dollar.
Jon ********
@Andy ***********
educate me where the us $ has a different value in different countries
Andy ****
@Jon *******
the questioner writes $ but does not say US Dollar. Many countries use their own $.
Andy ************
@Jon *******
You obviously don't realise that many countries use the $! lol
Jon ********
@Andy ***********
Explain how that works. How the dollar retains different values around the world. If it did every brokerage house firm in the world would be going crazy with arbitrage.
Andy ************
@Jon *******
Not the sharpest knife in the kitchen drawer are you? lol
Jon ********
The standard worldwide is the US dollar $.......although Trump is working on that LOL

@Jon *******
in that case god help us.

@Terrence **********
When he fires Powell the market will plummet even more. The $ is down 10% already and the market is now a bear market.......yes it is grim.
Terrence ***********
@Jon *******
just wait until the bond market gets really spooked. That’ll cause a 20% drop in US equities.
Jon ********
@Terrence **********
It already has dropped 20%. Countries are dumping the T Bill as the USA in no longer viewed as stable due to Trumps madness.
Terrence ***********
@Jon *******
the markets have dropped about 14% since he became president. I’m talking about 20% from here.
Jon ********
@Terrence **********
It depends on the day. The markets have already been in bear territory but Trump keeps jerking around his tariff threats so the market is extremely volatile. Down, Up...down...if he fires Powell who knows how far it will fall. But Trump and his buddies can short and put the market and keep making money. Hard not to see this as market manipulation.
Al **********
@Jon *******
American Dollar , Australian Dollar, Canadian, Singaporean, Taiwan....there are over 20 different types of Dollar, all using the same $ symbol but all different values.
Jon ********
@Al *********
That is what he was trying to say but could not articulate it. Thank you.
Andy ************
@Jon *******
But no-one even mentioned the US dollar, until you started flapping your gums. 😂😂😂😂
