TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice for a friend who is unable to book a two-week appointment for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) in Vientiane, Laos. Commenters suggest alternatives including going to Savannakhet, where no appointment is necessary, and preparing a bank statement as an additional requirement. Some also mention the option of obtaining the visa in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, without needing an appointment.

Go to HCMC in Vietnam and get it...no appointment needed

Yes, agency said just show 20,000 baht as one of the requirements in savannakhet .

at the moment I would say avoid both places for the time being. If you have option to fly to Myanmar, KL, Hanoi or HCMC and fullfill requirement I would do. Or make a good planning for Vientiane, now you can book for 17th, 18th and 22nd April.

remember the 20K baht or the equivalent you show at the thai consulate in Savannakhet is NOT in cash but in the form of a bank statement.

@Robert ******
but that’s the requirement there if you will go to savannakhet

That is a small amount of money to live 90 days inside Thailand.

Yes - by all means do as Joost says. Savannakhet Laos is across from Mukdahan, Thailand reachable via Ubon, Khon Kaen or Sakon Nakhon.

Go to Savannakhet instead. Or postpone trip.

yes no appointment needed in Savannakhet. They do require some other things that Vientiane does not, like a copy of a bank statement but that's easy.

@Joost ********
is this without appointment?

These are the next available slots

Make the appointment and go on that day, or visit another Thai Consulate.
