Hi, I am here on a 30 day visa exempt from the USA. Expires January 30. I have deposited the required amount into Bangkok Bank for the so called retirement visa. I have rented a house with TM30 filed and I bought a car.

I will be making a short trip to Singapore for Chinese new year .

What do I need to do next ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 30-day visa exemption in Thailand and is preparing to apply for a Non-O visa after a trip to Singapore. It is advised that upon returning to Thailand, the user should visit their local immigration office to obtain the list of required documents for the Non-O visa application. After gathering the necessary documents and applying for the Non-O visa (which costs approximately 2000 baht), the user will have to wait for the application review period (typically around 2 weeks). Once granted, the visa will allow a 90-day stay, and during this period, the user should also prepare for an extension of stay (year extension) by ensuring that 800,000 baht is seasoned in a Thai bank account.

Apply for a Non O visa. Go to your local Immigration first to get their version of what you need for the application. It may well differ slightly.

You go to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the documents required to get a 90 day Non-O visa,

and

when you come back from Singapore on a fresh 30 day free entry stamp you get those documents together & go apply for the Non-O visa for 2000baht,

Then you wait the under review period (usually 2 weeks) and go back get the Non-O visa w/a new 90 day stamped inked in, AND while you're there you get the hand out listing the document requirements for the year extension ๐Ÿ™‚

Then wait until your 800K baht is seasoned in the bank account in your name here for 2 months and you have 30 days or less left on your 90 day Non-O stamp then go to the immigration office and apply for the year extension for 1900 baht

thank you. Since my visa exempt expires January 30 and I won't be going to Singapore until February 7, I will have to get an extension.

Yep you would indeed, ๐Ÿ™‚

The reason I told you to wait is you can't leave the country once you apply for the Non-O visa at the immigration office until the under review period is up and you go back to get the Non-O and new 90 day stamp inked in (usually 2 weeks but some offices 3)

SO

get the 30 day extension, go on your trip come back on a fresh free entry stamp and go apply for the Non-O

AND

you might as well get the hand out for the Non-O visa requirements at the immigration office while you're there getting the extension BEFORE you leave so you know what you're doing once you come back
