Hey everyone,

I have two important questions regarding the DTV visa:

1. For the 500,000 THB financial requirement — is it acceptable if the amount is held in my local currency (HUF), or does it need to be converted into Thai Baht, EUR, USD? Would that be an issue?

2. My bank statements that prove my income are in my local language (Hungarian). Do I need to translate them into English or Thai for the application?

I’ve noticed that when people refer to the local embassy, they often mention that documents like bank statements don’t need to be translated, since the staff can understand the local language.

Is that actually the case? How does it work in practice?

Participant(e) anonyme No, there is only one option: The Thai e-visa website. Maybe some representations are not connected to the Thai e-visa system yet, but then they would accept only applications in person.

Depending on your current location, your application will be sent through the platform to the embassy/consulate which covers the area where you are located. If you apply from your home country/country of residence, usually your documents are written in the local language. Most embassies/consulates will accept documents written in the local language of the country where they are located. But they could ask for a translation into English or Thai nonetheless. For example, the embassy in Vienna covers Slovenia, but I am not sure if they accept documents in Slovene language.

So just to clarify — if I apply through the eVisa website, and I’m Hungarian, does my application automatically get routed to the Thai Embassy in Hungary for approval?

In other words, is the eVisa platform mainly a centralized system for collecting applications and then distributing them to the relevant local embassies for processing?

Anonieme deelnemer You choose the embassy in the evisa centralized system, you should choose the embassy where you stay at the moment of application.

Normally applying in your home country is the easiest.

Hi!

1. No need for fiat conversion/exchange into other currencies. Just tell how much it's worth in THB in your cover letter. Unless you apply in a country where HUF is a/the legal tender. You can still make the conversion for them and write the amount in THB in your letter, but they'll usually know the exchange rate.

2. Yes, translate, unless you apply in the country where your account(s) is/are.
