TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain permanent residency in Thailand, an applicant typically needs to have resided in the country on an Extension of Stay for more than three years, have a job in Thailand, pay taxes, and demonstrate proficiency in the Thai language, among other criteria. It's important to note that simply staying for a year is insufficient for permanent residency.

For those under age 50 to get close to a year (up to 9 months) ... You can get a METV - Multi-Entry Tourist at a Thai Embassy/Consulate in your home country. Qualifying requirements are on the website for the Thai Embassy / Consulate in your home country.

Staying in thailand for a year isn't gonna get you permanent residency. :/

There are a TON of topics on Permanent Residency if you google it.

And as it's not a visa related question I think we're done.

That you work in Thailand and stayed in Thailand for more than 3 years on an Extension of Stay, paid taxes, speak Thai and a few more things.
