Can anyone advise the requirements when applying to extend permission to stay based on marriage visa? Is it just a repeat of what we had to do when applying for the visa in the first place? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying to extend your permission to stay on a marriage visa in Thailand, the process is generally similar to your initial visa application. Key requirements include submitting the TM30 form, a bank letter confirming funds dated within 7 days, and ensuring your bank book is up-to-date. However, requirements can vary by immigration office, so it’s advisable to visit your local office and obtain their specific checklist.

Has nothing to do with the requirements to get the VISA from a thai consulate.
The advice to go to the immigration office and get the hand out is the best advice you got.

If you applied for a Visa at a Thai Consulate abroad and now want to apply for a 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office it will be a total different set of requirements.
Best is to visit the Immigration Office in your area and ask the hand out with these requirements.

Pretty much the same as whenapplying for the visa.
The TM30 will also be required.
The letter from the bank about your funds must be done within 7 days. The bank book must be done that day.
Every office is slightly different in requirements, I suggest you go if you can and get the hand out from them.
