Just tried to extend my DTV at Krabi immigration office. Not good.
The officer wanted basically a repeat of all the documents submitted for the original visa but updated. And he wanted a picture of me at the house I rent, a printout of a map of where my house is, a signed letter from my landlord with a copy of landlord ID etc.
I said it would be easier for me to fly to KL and come back. He agreed.
Fortunately I have plenty of time and a favorite Indian restaurant in KL.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their recent experience at the Krabi immigration office while trying to extend their DTV visa. They encountered unexpected requirements, which included resubmitting original documentation, providing a picture at their rented house, a map of the location, a signed landlord letter, and landlord ID. Frustrated, they suggested that it might be easier to leave Thailand and return instead. Commenters agreed, noting that many find it simpler to obtain a new 180-day stamp by briefly exiting the country rather than dealing with the complexities of the extension process.
That seems pretty easy to me. If you’ve already done the paperwork before shouldn’t be difficult to do it again. And an extra picture, a printed off map, a letter, and a photocopy? Simple. Shouldn’t take more than 3 hours to get all that completed if you know how to focus and do paperwork.
I don’t really know why anyone wants to try and extend their DTV. It’s just so much easier to pop out of Thailand for a day or 2 and back in for another 180 day stamp. Just make it a short holiday and enjoy it 😁
except when you go back to immigration with all of them, they're going to have 2 or 3 new things. Once you get those and return there will be another round of new things. Repeat this until you run out of time and have to leave. They do not want to do DTV extensions.
