I am helping a friend apply for the Thai visa now online, he is intending staying for 6 months, flights booked etc. When completing the application it says he needs to supply a Certificate of Criminal Record, which we did via GOV.UK but it also asks for a medical certificate, Ministerial Regulation No14 (B.E. 2535) he asked his doctor but they have never heard of it. Any advice please? He is due to fly at the end of October. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is assisting a friend with their Thai visa application for a 6-month stay and encounters confusion regarding required documents, particularly a Certificate of Criminal Record and a medical certificate based on Ministerial Regulation No14. Several comments suggest that the application may be for the incorrect visa type (O-A) instead of a multiple-entry tourist visa (METV), and they advise on how to properly reapply.

Apply for tourist visa, then select multiple entry on the pop up screen
Ron *******
And before it starts, go in the pending application folder and DELETE that application. Then Start again.

Online where? If that is the London online embassy application site, it's because he's applying for the wrong visa. That's because you told the system he wants to stay 6 months. It's now trying to issue an O-A visa. You should be applying for a METV visa. That gives increments of 60 days after which you apply for a 30 day extension taking you to 90 days, then leave and reenter or leave after 60 days and come back in for another 60 days. He cannot stay for 6 months continually on that visa
Ron *******
Tony Hilton it will be a straight forward single entry Non O for being over 50 years old and retired that will be issued.

That gives a single entry of 90 days

Interesting, it did allow me to select single entry, he needed to show ยฃ10k in the bank or pension income, however he did not have to supply medical or police certificate. When they phoned they just wanted him to confirm what he had sent and that he wanted it back in the special delivery envelope supplied. They did not say there was a problem, we will have to wait and see, I will let yuou know how they get on

the O-A is a multiple entry visa. Your stamped in for 1 year each time you enter. That visa needs the medical certificate and police clearance plus 800k in the bank or 65k a month income. Perhaps that's why they got a call

the last two I did I put them down as freelance. One was for an A-O visa 90 days which he got a call about on Monday and seems to be ok. The other was for a couple who wanted a tourist visa 60 days, again they were logged as freelance and they bothe went through

the last one you did, was it a METV? What was the work around for the employment letter being retired, was it a tax return?
Ron *******
@Tony *******
yes. The site is set up in Dollars now it comes to income

yes, found that out to my cost with another application, this is the third person I have tried to help in the last 2 weeks. The freelance box is on part 3, personal details and asks about your occupation, the only option if you are self employed is the freelance box, you then just have to put in you income albeit in dollars.
Ron *******
@Tony *******
I have no idea what the freelance box is unless they have updated again.

See how you get on further into the application. Just a little tip though, you MUST upload the documents they ask for, even if you think they don't apply. Without doing it, you will be stuck on the page and cannot move on or submit the application.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks again, he is actually retired so does not have an employer. I used the freelance box for another friend which seemed to work ok. I have all of his bank details etc
Ron *******
Tony probably not. After the recent update, further on in the application it starts to ask for all sorts of information. If it wants multiple flights during the visa life and at the end if it, I really don't know. You do realise your going to need a letter from his employer addressed specially to the Embassy? Also his bank statements/ pension income details.

Ron much appreciated, I will cancel the current application and start fresh. Does it matter that his flight is booked to return in 6 months?
