Is it true that when applying for DTV as a Brit you only need to have had the 500k+ THB in your account for 1 month? And also to confirm I MUST 100% apply from my home country now, not a border run etc?

Thanks
Answer summary
The user inquires about the requirements for applying for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) as a Brit, specifically regarding the need to prove 500,000+ THB in their bank account for one month and whether they must apply from their home country rather than making a border run. Comments clarify various visa-related regulations, such as differing requirements for spousal visas, the implications of switching between financial proof methods, and the importance of checking with local immigration offices to confirm specific requirements for different visa types.

Just so I understand. If my wife and I are from US . I currently have a Thai bank account seasoned with > 800k . She does not . If we go with this Visa will she need her own 800k account ?

I'll answer your question but if you have any more please make your own topic

You are correct, there is no way for her to get the "stay with non thai family" 90 day non-O visa as trailing spouse of you hold a 90 day Non-O visa/extension based on retirement.

She gets her own stand alone retirement visa

okay, listen up people, this topic is about switching from proof of funds based on monthly income by international transfer, to proof of funds based on banked money method.

It is NOT about anything else.. so keep it on topic, or make your own thread if you need to ask a question not related to this topic

I recently spoke with Chiang Rai immigration as I wanted to switch from the 65K method to the 800k method and they told me that if you make such a switch you cannot at a later date change your mind and revert back to the monthly 65k income method although they failed to give a concise explanation for such a rule. So I suggest you obtain clarification from your own local immigration office regarding such a restriction just in case your financial circumstances change in the future.

I also have read reports that they'll let you switch methods of proof of funds ONCE and after that you live with it

in my case, not!

Only my husband needs to show the proof of money as he has the retirement visa. I have a spousal visa, attached to his and I don't need to show any additional money.

did you and your husband get the one year extension as retired in Thailand at your local Thai immigration office ?

Or did you get the OA Visa as a retiree and spouse in your home country?

We got the extension in Thailand, my husband retirement visa and me as a spouse/dependent. But this was done 3 years ago when this was still possible, now I hear I wouldn't be able to get the same visa myself from within Thailand and that I would have to get the OA if I was to apply nowadays. Hope this helped!

That is something you're going to have to ask your specific immigration office about.

I did read a post a while back of someone who wanted to go from proof of funds by monthly income by international transfer method to banked money method and their immigration office said they had to continue to bring in the 65K per month right up until they applied for a new yearly extension using banked money method

Now to me that doesn't make sense because the extension they're on now was gotten by showing transfers of 65k per month for last year, and the one they will apply for that's coming up they want to use banked money and get the 800K in the account 2 months before they apply

BUT

That is what their office told them they had to do to switch methods for proof of funds..

CHECK with your office well before you stop bringing in the 65K to make sure once you get the 800K in the account you can stop the transfers. Last thing you need is to run yourself off the rails

Thanks Tod! Always good advice! We will continue with the 65 k and let it overlap with the 800 K.

That’s your absolute safest bet rock solid plan and then just leave your 800,000 never touch it again. That’s what works best for me I just never touch it
