Entering on tourist visa and will apply for Non O visa and 1 year visa extension at Chang Watthana. Looking for recent real world experience please.

Do they need the bank proof letter showing the funds came from overseas? I already have a Thai bank accounted that is funded.

Is any medical insurance proof required ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Non O visa and a 1-year extension after entering Thailand on a tourist visa, it is necessary to show proof of funds, specifically that these funds were sourced from overseas. Although having a Thai bank account is beneficial, it is essential to have documentation proving the funds' origins. Additionally, no medical insurance is required when applying for a Non O visa.

A non OA is only available from your home country, not within Thailand. You can apply for a Non O based on being over 50 - sometimes referred to as a “retirement visa “. You will need to show proof of funds from overseas. No insurance is required for a non O visa.

What is considered acceptable as showing 'proof of fund from overseas'? Do the funds need to have been in your account 2 months prior?

it’s a two part process. The initial Non O visa (90 days) does not need “seasoning” of the funds - although your local office may insist. Most won’t.

When it’s time to get the year extension then funds need to have been in for 2 months. They also must stay in for 3 months after. The balance can’t go below 400k for the rest of the year and would need to be back to 800k two months prior to your next application.

offices may differ on what they consider as overseas funding. Usually if the bank transfer in shows as an overseas transfer then that’s good enough. If you used a service like Wise to transfer it it may show as a domestic transfer, in which case you’d need to get the bank to confirm it came from overseas.
