it entirely depends on the embassy you apply through as they can have different requirements. Some require a dependent to show the 500K THB other don't. Some want 500K THB per person in the account if it's a join account, other don't. You need to look at the embassy you are applying through and what their requirements are.

I just did the process in Jakarta with 2 dependents.

We all applied at the same time.

So they didn't ask for my DTV visa stamp. Since I was just applying as well.

They asked for:

Copy of my bio page.

Proof of relationship (marriage license and birth certificate)

Sponsorship letter.

Application form and 2 photos.

Of course you don’t need DTV holder’s stamp if main applicant is applying at the same time. Your case was in-person application and Jakarta was probably less strict, that’s why they didn’t ask 500K statement for dependent. For online e-visa, dependent applicant has to upload 500 K bank statement mandatory as well. Me and my wife just received DTV and dependent visa from Hanoi last week, they don’t allow walk-in applications anymore.

You better ask Thai foreign affairs, I’m here to share my experience to newcomer to make their life easier. Not to argue or answer rules I didn’t set. Try create an account on Thai visa portal see what kind of documents you’ve to upload for DTV dependent form.

yes, dependent also needs to have 500K in their account or you can show main DTV holder account that has 500K additional for each dependent’s application.
