Interesting account from a French guy on Smart Visa S (Startup) regarding the repatriation process. This visa is usually exempt from needing a work permit but it seems with the help of the BOI he acquired one while in France which allowed him to return.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses a French individual's experience with the Smart Visa S (Startup), particularly in relation to the repatriation process and the ability to acquire a work permit with BOI's assistance. Participants also inquire about COE application requirements, including the need for flight and hotel bookings, and conditions during quarantine.

That’s what I would like to know is there an out door area, as being locked down for 14 days isn’t worth wasting my money or time staring at walls.....

SMART Visa comes with an "electronic work permit." So it makes sense how he was able to get covered to come back in. Basically the future of work visas, hopefully.

Very useful info , one thing I want to ask at the time of applying COE with valid work permit and visa also Covid cover insurance... is it required to book flight ✈️ and quarantine hotel confirmation and enclosed with the papers ?

As I read all of these accounts of getting into Thailand, the more my decision to wait until next year makes sense to me. I fall into the category of being married to a Thai national and having a Thai son. Even though that is one of the acceptable groups that can apply to return, it sounds to me like Thai immigration is overwhelmed at the moment.

You'll have to contact the individual hotels and see what is available. This may be the biggest delay at the moment, the soonest you may be able to get a ASQ room may be another another month anyway.

@Gu***
that is "Alternative State Quarantine", the special quarantine hotel booking. I believe there is a bit of a queue on this at the moment, but they are adding new hotels.

You need the ASQ booking to get the CoE. You book the flight after you get the CoE.
